The Pigeon Show

This morning Jason, Finn and I attended a fabulous performance of Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus at the Emerald City Theater with our friends Kimberly, Lauren, and Madeline.  (Wylie chose to spend the day with the grandparents and Brian chose to play basketball instead--their loss!)  This outing was a huge success, especially after the Mouse show debacle of 2009, which took place at this very same theater.  And, this time we were sitting in the front row!  I held my breath when the lights went down, watched Finn's reaction, and was relieved that he wasn't running for the door.

The Pigeon was a riot--an adult male dressed as a goofy-looking bird acting like the quintessential pre-school-age child, with the kind of attitude we all know and love.  Realistic requests--"Can I drive the bus?," "I want a puppy," and "I'm not tired I need a glass of water I don't need to go to bed!"  A compassionate attitude toward others--"I don't want to share my hot dog!" And, a positive attitude--"I never get to do anything!"

Finn and I liked the bus driver best.  I supposed I liked him because he was the driver of the show, teaching lessons and trying to guide the Pigeon toward good choices, responsibility, and growth.  Finn was probably drawn to him because, well, he gets to drive the bus!
