Trying out a sippy cup for the first time.

Checking out some of Uncle Joe's old toys.  Thanks for leaving them behind, Joe!

Kids-Only in St. Louis

We spent a low-key weekend in St. Louis with our very good friends (despite their Cardinals loyalty) Michelle, Paul, Grace, and Jack.  (Or, as it appears in the pictures, really, Finn and Wylie enjoyed a kids-only weekend with Grace and Jack while us adults spent the weekend at an adults-only resort in Branson.)  So, what did the kiddos do for fun?

Finn and Grace made popsicles with little to no mess while the babies were sleeping.

Finn read to Jack.

Jack told a string of very funny jokes involving a yellow cube.

Then Wylie got in on some physical comedy.

Grace and Finn cleaned up the toys and turned the living room into a disco.

And, to capture the week's fun and appease the adults, they posed for a group photo.

Wylie's First Food

After weeks of anticipation--the poor kid has been eyeballing and reaching for our food for weeks now--Wylie finally got his first taste of real food!  Multi-grain cereal, yum!  He couldn't get enough.  Looks like we'll be moving on the really good stuff, like strained peas, very soon!

Silva's Visit

Finn and Devin had a blast a Navy Pier, despite the heat!

Wylie and Quenten even got in on the fun at the children's museum.

Dear Christy, Steve, Devin, and Quenten--

Thank you for making the trek to Chicago!  We love getting to hang out with you and feel lucky to have you as friends!  It was a delight to show you around Chicago--Navy Pier, the Sears Tower, the Art Institute, and good ole' Wrigley Field!  (Go Cubs!)  Thank you for introducing us to Amanda, Gene, and Faith, too!  Please come stay at Hotel Kovar Cascarino again soon!

Lots of love,
Jen, Jason, Finn, and Wylie

First Family of Four Vacation

We absolutely loved South Haven, Michigan and were happy to spend our days thinking about nothing more than whether to head to the pool or the beach.  Finn swam and swam and swam, Wylie enjoyed his first dips in the pool.  Jason and I enjoyed every moment, except for the ones when the boys were a wreck from too much vacation and we found ourselves sounding like our parents did back in the day: We take you on the wonderful vacation and all you do is whine.  You got to go on a dune ride and have ice cream, now why can you just be happy?  Why can't you appreciate what we do for you?...We then ushered Finn and Wylie to bed as quickly as possible, parked ourselves on the patio, and drank.

Wylie, the perfect student

"See Wylie, this is Lightning McQueen.  He is a race car..."

Ten minutes later: "And this is Mater..." Meanwhile Wylie is thinking, I know I am supposed to be learning this stuff, but right now all I really want to do is chew on my toy.  Finn is so into his stickers he doesn't notice anyhow.
